This asana is generally known as the resting pose and
is often done between more difficult postures. It helps
release pressure in the spine. Deep relaxation and
rejuvenation is experienced in the abdomen and
throughout the whole body. The big toes touch
and the heels are spread. The hands
are often placed out in front of the head on the floor
or laid along either side of the body.
In this modified version the hands are
clasped behind the back and drawn upward
in an additional stretch.
